Step-by-step: Transfer a domain from GoDaddy to Hostinger

Step-by-step: Transfer a domain from GoDaddy to Hostinger If the domain is currently registered with GoDaddy and you want to transfer it to Hostinger, the domain owner needs to complete a few steps inside GoDaddy first. After that, the person managing Hostinger can initiate the transfer. There are two separate things to understand: Domain transfer: Moves the domain registration from GoDaddy to Hostinger. DNS/website migration: Moves or connects the website to Hostinger. Transferring the domain alone does not move the website files or email accounts. Part 1: Steps the domain holder must complete in GoDaddy Step 1: Log in to GoDaddy Step 1: Log in to GoDaddy Visit GoDaddy and sign in to the account that owns the domain. Open My Products → Domains or the Domain Portfolio. Step 2: Turn off Domain Lock Select the domain. Open its domain settings. Find Domain Lock. Turn it off and confirm if prompted. This allows the domain to be transferred to another registrar. Step 3: Get the authorization code (EPP code) In the domain settings, find the option named something like Transfer domain away from GoDaddy or Transfer to another registrar. Follow the instructions to obtain the authorization code, also called the EPP code or transfer code. GoDaddy may email it to the registered contact address. Step 4: Confirm the transfer-out request If GoDaddy displays a confirmation or transfer approval step, complete it. If an option to approve or accelerate the transfer is available later, the domain holder can use it. Keep access to the registered email address in case verification is required. Important: GoDaddy’s current transfer checklist may also ask the domain holder to turn off Domain Privacy and downgrade Domain Protection to none. Follow the options shown for that specific domain. Part 2: Steps to complete in Hostinger Once the domain holder finishes the GoDaddy steps: Step 5: Open Hostinger’s transfer page Go to Hostinger Domain Transfer and enter the domain name.   Step 6: Enter the EPP code Complete the transfer checkout and enter the authorization code provided by the domain holder.   Step 7: Choose nameservers and DNS settings Select the appropriate option for your website and email setup. If your website and email are already on Hostinger, you can choose Hostinger nameservers. If email is hosted elsewhere, preserve the relevant DNS records carefully.   Step 8: Approve the transfer email The domain holder should monitor their registered email for transfer approval messages and confirm them promptly. Follow any additional instructions from Hostinger. The transfer can take up to 7 days, although it may finish sooner. Most eligible .com transfers include a one-year registration extension; fees and renewal rules depend on the domain extension
